Successful Stories from Sites
The following story from the Boys and Girls Club of the Northland highlights the positive role that an AmeriCorps Member plays. Their use of “members” refers to the youth served at their site.
"As our number of members we serve each day grows, our budget per site has decreased. We have had to find creative solutions to maintain our current quality of programming and the diverse array of programs offered. AmeriCorps allows us to have consistent, qualified, passionate mentors to run programs with the same child/adult ratio. Keeping this ratio low allows us to give the youth we serve the individual attention they need and gives them the motivation to return, knowing there is someone there who cares. Having the same person each day in our Learning Centers, helping youth with homework, asking them about their day, addressing other personal and academic needs, is one thing our youth can count on in their ever changing world."
