Application Process

Application

To apply for the True North AmeriCorps Program, review our website, www.truenorthamericorps.org, to examine the program focus and objectives. If you think the program is a fit for you, you are invited to submit an application through our online system.  Applications will be accepted beginning April 15th, 2011.

Initial Screening

The Program Coordinator will contact you to schedule an initial interview after reviewing your cover letter and resume. The initial screening will provide information outlining the program and time to answer any specific questions you may have about the program. If qualifications are met, you may continue in the application process.

Site Selection

Following your initial screening, review the list of available sites and position descriptions for the coming service year on our website. Select site/sites that you feel would be a good fit based on your personal   interests and qualifications. 

Site Interviews

After selecting a site that fits your interests and qualifications, contact the Site Supervisor to schedule an interview. Upon completion of the interview, the supervisor will determine whether or not to offer you a position for the coming year.

One of the following scenarios will play out for you:

* If you are offered a position and accept, notify the Program Coordinator to set up your mandatory orientation time.

* If you are not offered a position or do not feel that the site is a fit for you, contact other sites that could be better for you.

Mandatory Orientation and Documentation

All members must attend a mandatory orientation before they can start the year of service. During your orientation, you will fill out necessary paperwork and receive important documentation and guidelines for successful program completion.

The following items will be needed at the mandatory orientation:

* A current passport or a driver’s license and birth certificate

* Two completed forms of reference (given at the initial screening)

Congratulations! You are officially an AmeriCorps Member!  Your yearlong commitment to serve with True North AmeriCorps will begin September 1st.
