What is AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects more than 50,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet our country’s critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. AmeriCorps opens the door for citizens to serve in a variety of ways. Through their service and the volunteers they mobilize, AmeriCorps members address critical needs in communities throughout America. AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, an independent federal agency created to connect Americans of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to give back to their communities and their nation.
What is the True North AmeriCorps Program?
The mission of True North AmeriCorps Program (TNAC) is to support on-time graduation, ensuring that youth are prepared for academic, civic, and economic success. TNAC has placed AmeriCorps members throughout Northeastern Minnesota since 2004. A Program of the Duluth Area Family YMCA, TNAC partners with nonprofits, schools, and community agencies in the Arrowhead region of Minnesota.
